Disney World Hotel Refurbishments Stretch Into 2027

Published September 11, 2026

Several Walt Disney World resort closures and refurbishments were reported Friday, September 11, 2026, across Disney hotels heading into winter. As of Friday, September 11, some projects are expected to run into 2027, including room work, exterior maintenance, pool closures, and a one-week Disney Skyliner shutdown.

According to reports, Disney’s Beach Club Resort will remain under exterior maintenance through late 2027. Guests may see construction, hear daytime noise, encounter temporary walking-path closures, or have some views affected.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort also reportedly has phased work continuing through late 2027, with Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower atrium among the affected areas. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is expected to keep work going in select locations, including the covered entrance, through early 2027.

Several room refurbishment projects are also still in motion. Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is expected to continue guest-room work through January 2027, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Jambo House refurbishments are expected to continue through January 2027, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside room renovations are expected to continue through August 2027.

A more guest-facing closure is reportedly coming to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. Beginning January 11, 2027, the Luna Park Pool, Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations are expected to close for routine maintenance through April 2027, while the Villas Pool and Inn Pool remain available.

What we know

What’s not confirmed

Disney has not officially confirmed the full list in the supplied information. Reports also mention one longtime Disney World hotel staple not returning, but the available coverage did not identify which staple that is.

The Coronado Springs Resort Convention Center project is also reported as continuing into “late” without a complete date in the supplied facts.

What it means for your trip

If your resort is part of this list and you treat the hotel as more than a place to sleep, this matters. Pool time, stroller routes, lobby access, and midday breaks can all feel different when construction walls or alternate walking paths are in play.

BoardWalk Inn is the biggest family-planning flag because Luna Park Pool is the feature pool. If that pool is a major reason you are booking BoardWalk for January through April 2027, compare the remaining pool options before you commit.

The Skyliner closure is short, but it hits a very specific group: guests choosing Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, or Riviera for easy access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. From January 24–30, 2027, plan around buses instead of assuming the Skyliner will be your fast route.
