According to reports from Tuesday, September 1, the Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom will close for a routine refurbishment this fall. As of Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the attraction has been added to the refurbishment calendar and is scheduled to be offline from September 28 through October 29, 2026.

The railroad is slated to reopen on October 30, 2026, resuming its standard operating hours. Disney has indicated this is a routine refurbishment, independent of other ongoing projects in the park.

Since July 2025, the attraction has operated in a temporary shuttle mode between Main Street, U.S.A. and the Fantasyland station at Storybook Circus. This modification accommodates the closure of the Frontierland Station and the construction of new lands in that area of the park.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the train run a continuous loop when it reopens?

No. Because the Frontierland Station is temporarily closed for long-term construction, the railroad is expected to resume its shuttle mode between Main Street, U.S.A. and Fantasyland when it reopens.

Are other Magic Kingdom attractions closing at the same time?

While Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is also undergoing refurbishment during this window, the two projects are reportedly unrelated.
