Boma - Flavors of Africa
Boma is Animal Kingdom Lodge’s all-you-can-eat African-inspired buffet, and it’s the rare Disney World buffet that earns the trip even if you’re not staying at the resort. Picture a softly lit, market-style dining room of open cooking stations: a carving station, simmering pots of slow-cooked stews and pepper pots, dozens of chutneys and house-made spreads, and a soup lineup that regulars come back for specifically. The food leans approachable-exotic — boldly spiced but never a dare — so the table can roam from a familiar carved meat to a fufu or a peri-peri something without anyone feeling stranded.
What actually makes Boma work is that it solves the mixed-group problem better than almost anywhere on property. One person builds a plate of nuggets and pastries, the next is ladling pepper pot stew and hitting the carving station, and everybody ends at the same dessert spread. It’s dinner (and a renowned breakfast) where adventurous eaters and stubborn picky eaters genuinely both win — which is exactly why these tables fill fast.
The catch is demand. Boma, Sanaa, and Jiko are the resort’s table-service heavy hitters and they book out early, so this isn’t a walk-up-and-wing-it night. Plan it, and treat the dessert station — not any single entrée — as the thing you pace yourself for.
This is the buffet for families and groups who can never agree on a restaurant — the one table where the picky kid and the spice-chaser both leave happy, and the desserts are the peace treaty that ends every argument. If you want a quiet, refined African meal go to Jiko or chase a savanna table at Sanaa; if you want abundance, variety, and a low-stress room where everyone eats on their own terms, Boma is the pick. Book it the morning your window opens.
