Cooler Fall Air Hits Disney World: What to Know
Published October 17, 2026
A cold front moving into Central Florida is dropping Walt Disney World temperatures roughly 10 degrees starting this weekend, according to reports published Thursday, October 15. The forecast puts Saturday’s high at 79 and Sunday’s at 78, down from a 89-degree high earlier in the week.
As of Saturday, October 17, the cooler pattern is forecast to hold through the following work week, with highs averaging about 79 from Monday through Friday and morning lows sliding from 66 on Monday to 61 by Wednesday through Friday. Saturday, October 24 is forecast at 78 with a low of 61.
Rain is the trade-off. Reports put Friday’s chance at 65%, Saturday’s at 85%, and Sunday’s at 45%. Sunshine is forecast to return Wednesday and stay through Friday.
The timing overlaps more Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates at Magic Kingdom — Sunday, October 18, then October 22 and 23 — and EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival.

What’s not confirmed
This is a weather forecast, not a Disney announcement — Disney has not announced any operating-hours, event, or attraction changes tied to the front. Rain chances and temperatures will shift as the week progresses, and no ride closures or party cancellations have been announced.
What it means for your trip
- Pack ponchos for today (85% rain chance) and Sunday (45%). Outdoor coasters like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Slinky Dog Dash and Expedition Everest typically pause when lightning is nearby, so have an indoor backup ready.
- Build today and Sunday around indoor rides: at Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland (Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin) plus Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. At Hollywood Studios, Rise of the Resistance, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Save outdoor headliners for the sunnier Wednesday-through-Friday stretch.
- If you have a Not-So-Scary night on October 18, 22, or 23: Sunday’s forecast low is 65, and next week’s lows dip to 61–63, so bring a light layer for kids in costume. Without a party ticket, check Magic Kingdom’s early day-guest closing on party nights and plan your evening at another park.
- Shift World Showcase walking to the sunny midweek days, where Food & Wine’s soup and chili booths actually land better in 60-degree mornings.
- A SupaPark wait-drop alert is useful on rainy afternoons specifically: waits often crater right after a storm passes while most guests are still waiting it out indoors.
