Grand Floridian Regains Direct Resort Entrance
Published October 19, 2026
A roundabout on Floridian Way has reopened, restoring a direct driving entrance to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World, according to reports published Monday, October 19, 2026. The change ends roughly a month of a temporary, indirect entrance configuration that made reaching the resort by car more confusing than it needed to be.
As of Monday, October 19, drivers headed to the Grand Floridian can once again turn in directly rather than navigating the workaround routing that had been in place.
The rework traces back to August, when the new Floridian Way opened with two roundabouts and an awkward entrance setup for the Grand Floridian. Reports describe the reopened roundabout as the fix that puts the resort’s direct access back in place.
What we know
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (Magic Kingdom resort area) — direct driving entrance restored via a reopened Floridian Way roundabout, according to reports
- Floridian Way — opened in August with two roundabouts; one of them had been closed, forcing an indirect route to the Grand Floridian
- Duration of the detour — roughly one month of the temporary configuration, per reports
What’s not confirmed
Disney has not confirmed the change in a public statement. No completion date for the broader Floridian Way roadwork, no detail on whether any other roundabout or lane remains restricted, and no guidance on whether the current configuration is final were included in the coverage available.
What it means for your trip
- If you’re driving to the Grand Floridian for a dining reservation — Victoria & Albert’s, Citricos, Narcoossee’s, 1900 Park Fare — you no longer need to pad your arrival for a detour, but give yourself a buffer anyway while signage and GPS catch up to the restored routing.
- Rideshare drop-offs should be simpler too. If your driver’s navigation still routes the long way, the resort’s own entrance off Floridian Way is the one to point them toward.
- Guests staying at the Grand Floridian or Polynesian Village with early morning Magic Kingdom plans still have better options than driving: the resort monorail and the walking path to Magic Kingdom both beat parking logistics for Early Theme Park Entry.
- Road access does not change your booking windows. Advance Dining Reservations still open 60 days before arrival at 6:00 AM Eastern, and Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections still open at 7:00 AM Eastern on your eligible day — 7 days out for resort guests, 3 days for off-site.
- Hard-to-get Grand Floridian tables, especially Victoria & Albert’s, are usually gone well before your trip. A SupaPark dining Drop Watch pings you when a cancellation frees one up, and you book it in My Disney Experience.
SupaPark tracks live wait times and crowd forecasts, and pings you the second a hard-to-get reservation opens or a ride goes walk-on — free to start at supapark.com.
