Live now: Slinky Dog Dash wait & status

Slinky Dog Dash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is experiencing an extended, unexpected closure according to reports. The marquee Toy Story Land roller coaster did not open for guests at all on August 31, and remains closed as of Tuesday, September 1.

The attraction failed to operate at any point during Monday’s park hours. This represents a highly unusual stretch of continuous downtime for a ride that routinely commands the longest wait time in the park.

According to reports from inside the park, guests have not received push notifications from the My Disney Experience app regarding the prolonged closure.

What we know

Disney has not confirmed the cause of the downtime, and Cast Members are reportedly unsure when the roller coaster will resume normal operations.

What it means for your trip

If you are visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this closure significantly alters standard park strategy. Because Slinky Dog Dash typically absorbs a massive portion of the early morning crowd, expect higher waits and faster Lightning Lane Multi Pass sell-outs at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania. Do not walk all the way to Toy Story Land assuming it will open soon; instead, rely on the My Disney Experience app for status updates. You can also set a SupaPark wait time alert to get pinged the second the ride comes back online, allowing you to head over before the standby line spikes.
