Slinky Dog Dash Reopens After Four-Day Outage

Live now: Slinky Dog Dash wait & status

Slinky Dog Dash, the Toy Story Land coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, reopened at roughly 11:20 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, according to reports, ending an unscheduled closure that ran more than four days. The ride had been down through Early Entry and rope drop that morning before returning midday.

As of Friday, September 4, 2026, the attraction is reported to be operating again, though its recent record makes that status fragile hour to hour.

The trouble reportedly started building in mid-August, with near-daily downtime beginning August 19, then roughly four hours of downtime on August 28 and close to nine hours on August 29. The coaster broke down around 6 p.m. on August 30 — closing mid-evening rather than simply failing to open the next morning.

From August 31 through September 2, Slinky Dog Dash reportedly did not operate at all, including during After Hours events at Hollywood Studios. It opened for Early Entry on September 3 and posted the park’s highest wait at 40 minutes, then closed again around 8:58 a.m. — minutes before regular rope drop — and stayed down the rest of the day.

Wait times climbed fast after Friday’s reopening: reportedly 30 minutes at first, spiking to 50 and then 60 minutes within about five minutes, and reaching 120 minutes roughly half an hour later.

What we know

What’s not confirmed

Disney has not commented on the cause of the closure, has not said whether the underlying issue is fully resolved, and has not announced a scheduled refurbishment for the attraction. The stuck-vehicle reports and maintenance sightings come from guest accounts, not from Disney. No date has been announced for any future planned closure.

What it means for your trip

Do not build a Hollywood Studios morning around Slinky Dog Dash right now. Treat it as a bonus, not an anchor — plan your rope drop toward Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, or Toy Story Mania, and pivot to Slinky only if it is actually running when you walk in.

If you buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Hollywood Studios and Slinky Dog Dash is your headline selection, know that a down ride can wipe that plan; keep a realistic backup attraction in mind when you make or refill selections in My Disney Experience.

When it does come back online after a stoppage, the standby wait inflates within minutes and can stay inflated all day — expect a possible late-afternoon peak well above what other Hollywood Studios headliners post. Riding immediately at reopening, or very late in the evening, tends to be the cheaper window.

SupaPark’s ride status alerts can ping you the moment Slinky Dog Dash flips back to operating, which is the difference between joining a 30-minute line and a 120-minute one.
