Yacht Club FriendShip Boat Dock Reopens After Delay

Published August 31, 2026

The FriendShip Boat dock at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort at Walt Disney World has reopened after a refurbishment that ran longer than planned, according to reports published Monday, August 31, 2026. The dock had been scheduled to close only from August 17 through August 21, 2026, but the work extended past that target date.

As of Monday, August 31, 2026, boats are reported to be running their normal Crescent Lake loop again, connecting Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resorts with the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, Disney’s BoardWalk, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The project centered on the dock’s aging structure. Crews reportedly pulled sections of old decking and laid new boards along the pier, leaving a visible contrast between fresh light wood and the weathered older planks.

While the dock was down, green construction fencing blocked access to the water and guests had to use other transportation to reach Hollywood Studios and the rest of the boat route.

The dock is a small piece of a much larger job. Exterior refurbishment work continues at both the Yacht Club and Beach Club, reportedly phased around the connected resorts rather than done all at once, with some of it expected to run into 2027. Disney’s construction bulletin advises guests that they may see and hear work in the area during daytime hours, and exterior scaffolding can affect guest room balconies.

What we know

What’s not confirmed

The exact reopening date has not been announced, and the reason for the delay has not been stated. Disney has not confirmed an end date for the wider exterior refurbishment at either resort, or which buildings and room blocks are scheduled for scaffolding next.

What it means for your trip

If you’re at the Yacht or Beach Club, the boat to Hollywood Studios is an option again — but treat it as the scenic choice, not the fast one. The walk to EPCOT’s International Gateway is still the fastest way into that park, and on a Hollywood Studios morning the boat’s loop stops make it a poor rope-drop bet; drive, take a bus, or plan extra buffer.

If you’re booked in late 2026 or 2027, ask about scaffolding at check-in. Balcony views and daytime noise are the real exposure here, and a room request costs nothing to make.

Also worth knowing: dock work like this can come back. Short refurbishments at Walt Disney World slip past their target dates fairly often, so build your park mornings around a route that doesn’t depend on a single boat.
