The Garden View Lounge is Disney’s grown-up afternoon tea, tucked into the conservatory-style space off the Grand Floridian lobby that looks out over the courtyard and pool. It closed in 2020 and sat dark for six years — used as a movie and game room in the interim — before Disney brought it back this year with a full refresh: out went the old pastel-pink-and-velvet-red Valentine’s look, in came a calmer mint green and light blue palette with gold accents. The result feels less stuffy and more like a bright, airy garden room, which is exactly the point of sitting here with a pot of tea while a harpist or pianist drifts in from the lobby.

This is a sit-down experience, not a grab-a-scone stop. You book it, you settle in, and a three-tiered plate arrives loaded with finger sandwiches, scones, and sweets — the current menu leans into a whimsical Alice in Wonderland theme, complete with tea-based cocktails and mocktails poured by trained cast members. There’s a dedicated children’s tea too, so this is one of the rare ‘fancy’ Disney meals that genuinely works with a kid in tow rather than just tolerating one.

Worth a table? If you love the ritual of afternoon tea, yes — it’s one of the most relaxing, least-rushed things you can do at Walt Disney World, and the Grand Floridian setting does a lot of the heavy lifting. If you’re expecting a full meal’s worth of value or you’re tea-indifferent, the price-per-finger-sandwich math won’t win you over. Go for the occasion, not the calories.

This is for tea people, celebration people, and anyone who wants a deliberately slow, civilized hour away from the park grind — think a birthday, an anniversary teatime, a grandmother-and-granddaughter date, or a princess-dressed kid who’ll lose it over a Cheshire Cat macaron. If you’re a ‘maximize every dollar and minute’ type, the splurge won’t compute. Everyone else: this is the calmest reservation on the monorail loop.
