Animal Kingdom on Christmas Day 2026: Crowd Outlook
Published October 30, 2026
Christmas Day 2026 at Animal Kingdom is forecast at the top of the scale: 10/10 in SupaPark’s crowd forecast (as of Oct 30). The other three parks are at 10/10 too, so switching parks won’t get you away from the crowds. What you can control is when you ride.
One number shows why. SupaPark’s wait data from the last 30 days (Oct 1–Oct 29) shows Kilimanjaro Safaris at a 54-minute median posted wait at 10 AM, compared with 10 minutes at 3 PM. That’s the same ride with a 44-minute difference, depending only on the hour. Christmas will run heavier than October, but in Animal Kingdom’s recent data the busiest hours come in the morning and the quietest come late in the day. Plan your Christmas there around that pattern.
The Verdict for Christmas Day
If Animal Kingdom is on your Dec 25 plan, keep it. Just don’t tour it the way most people do. Most guests arrive mid-morning, head straight for the big rides, and leave by late afternoon. That’s why the park’s recent waits peak around 10–11 AM and drop off after 3 PM.
Here’s what I’d do:
- Arrive early and go straight to Na’vi River Journey. It’s one of the few headliners where early morning clearly wins (details below).
- Avoid the 10 AM–noon window for big rides. In the recent data, those are the worst hours.
- Save Kilimanjaro Safaris for mid-afternoon. Its recent low comes at 3 PM, just as the morning crowd starts to thin out.
- Stay into the evening if the park is open. Animal Kingdom’s recent low across its five busiest rides was 10 minutes at 6 PM.
An honest note on confidence: SupaPark’s forecast puts Dec 25 at the maximum level for every park, and confidence is high that this will be a peak day. The hourly patterns below come from October, not from Christmas. Expect higher numbers on the day itself. The morning peak and afternoon drop at Animal Kingdom have been consistent, but Christmas could stretch the busy period longer.
Day by Day: Dec 25 at All Four Parks
The forecast covers a single day, and here’s how it looks across Walt Disney World (SupaPark crowd forecast, level out of 10, as of Oct 30):
- Animal Kingdom, Dec 25: 10/10. Busiest of the four.
- EPCOT, Dec 25: 10/10
- Hollywood Studios, Dec 25: 10/10
- Magic Kingdom, Dec 25: 10/10. Lightest of the four, though only by a small margin.
SupaPark’s calendar shows no party nights on Dec 25, so no park closes early for a separate-ticket event that day.
The main takeaway is that every park is at 10. Calling Magic Kingdom the “lightest” is a relative ranking within a maximum-crowd day. It doesn’t mean Magic Kingdom will feel quiet. Your arrival time and the order you ride in will matter much more than which park you pick.
Best and Worst Hours (Recent Pattern)
All figures below are SupaPark’s median posted waits from Oct 1–Oct 29. They show the recent daily pattern, not a measurement of Dec 25.
Animal Kingdom, median of the five busiest rides: 28 min at 9 AM, 40 min at 11 AM, 30 min at 2 PM, 15 min at 5 PM. The low was 10 min at 6 PM and the high was 40 min at 11 AM. Of all four parks, Animal Kingdom has the sharpest afternoon drop.
Headliner by headliner:
- Kilimanjaro Safaris: 10 min at 3 PM vs 54 min at 10 AM. Ride it in the afternoon, not first thing.
- Na’vi River Journey: 15 min at 8 AM vs 45 min at 11 AM. Ride it early, before late morning catches up with it.
Together, these two rides suggest an easy order: Na’vi first, other rides through late morning while you avoid the 11 AM peak, then Safaris around 3 PM. Most people do these two the other way around, and they wait longer for both.
For comparison, here’s how the other parks have behaved recently:
- EPCOT: 45 min at 9 AM, 55 at 11 AM, 58 at 2 PM, 60 at 5 PM, 48 at 8 PM. The low was 30 min at 8 AM and the high was 60 min at 3 PM. EPCOT stays busy late into the day. Test Track ran 30 min at 8 AM vs 75 min at 4 PM, and Frozen Ever After ran 20 min at 8 AM vs 65 min at 1 PM.
- Hollywood Studios: 40 min at 9 AM, 53 at 11 AM, 51 at 2 PM, 48 at 5 PM, 33 at 8 PM. The low was 25 min at 8 AM. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets ran 15 min at 8 AM vs 55 min at 11 AM. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance had its recent low at night, 20 min at 9 PM vs 55 min at 11 AM.
- Magic Kingdom: 30 min at 9 AM, 40 at 11 AM, 40 at 2 PM, 43 at 5 PM, 28 at 8 PM. The low was 20 min at 8 AM and the high was 45 min at 12 PM. Jungle Cruise ran 5 min at 8 AM vs 40 min at 12 PM, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin ran 5 min at 8 AM vs 39 min at 4 PM.
If you’re staying on-site, Early Theme Park Entry gives you a short head start before the general crowd arrives. On a 10/10 day, use it for the one ride you’d least want to wait for, not on a ride that’s quiet in the afternoon anyway.
Which Park to Pick Instead
Since every park is forecast at 10/10, switching won’t help much. What does help is matching each park’s crowd pattern to how your group likes to spend the day:
- Want a slower afternoon and evening? Choose Animal Kingdom. Its recent waits have dropped more after 3 PM than at any other park.
- Early risers who’ll be done by early afternoon? Magic Kingdom is the lightest-ranked park, and its 8 AM waits have recently been the lowest in the data (Jungle Cruise and Buzz Lightyear at 5 minutes).
- Night owls? Choose Hollywood Studios. Rise of the Resistance’s recent low came at 9 PM.
- Choose EPCOT only if you’re arriving early. Its waits have recently climbed all day and peaked at 3–5 PM, so it’s the hardest park for a late start.
If you have a Park Hopper, my move is a busy morning at Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, then hop to Animal Kingdom for the afternoon. That’s the opposite of most guests, who leave Animal Kingdom when the waits there are dropping.
On a day this busy, walk-on moments are short and hard to predict. SupaPark’s best-time-to-ride forecaster shows when each ride has recently been shortest. Live alerts can notify you when a ride’s wait drops sharply or a ride goes down, so you can change plans without refreshing the wait board all day. You can find it at supapark.com, and it’s also free on iPhone and Android.
The One Thing to Remember
On Christmas Day every park is at 10/10, so which park you pick matters less than when you ride. At Animal Kingdom, ride Na’vi River Journey early and save Kilimanjaro Safaris for the afternoon.
Frequently Asked Questions
How crowded will Animal Kingdom be on Christmas Day 2026?
SupaPark forecasts Animal Kingdom at 10/10 on Dec 25, 2026 (as of Oct 30), the busiest of the four Walt Disney World parks that day.
Is any Disney World park less crowded on Christmas Day?
Not in any meaningful way. All four parks are forecast at 10/10. Magic Kingdom ranks lightest, but only slightly, so arrival time and ride order matter more than which park you pick.
What’s the best time to ride Kilimanjaro Safaris on a busy day?
Mid-afternoon. SupaPark’s Oct 1–29 data showed a 10-minute median posted wait at 3 PM vs 54 minutes at 10 AM. Christmas will run higher, but the pattern is likely to hold.
Should I ride Na’vi River Journey first thing at Animal Kingdom?
Yes. In SupaPark’s recent data it ran 15 minutes at 8 AM vs 45 minutes at 11 AM, so early morning is when it’s shortest.
