Pete’s Silly Sideshow is an indoor character meet in the Storybook Circus corner of Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom — tucked between Dumbo the Flying Elephant, The Barnstormer, and the Fantasyland train station. The hook is the costuming: this is the one spot where the Fab Four-adjacent crew show up in full circus alter egos — The Great Goofini (Goofy as a stunt daredevil), Astounding Donaldo (Donald as a strongman), Minnie Magnifique, and Madame Daisy Fortuna, a fortune teller. It’s air-conditioned, it’s quick, and the character look is genuinely exclusive to this tent.

Is it worth it?

Worth it if: you have kids under about 8, you’re a costume nerd who collects the rare character outfits, or you need a 15-minute cooldown in the middle of a Fantasyland loop. You are not going to see Daisy dressed as a fortune teller anywhere else on property, and Goofini’s daredevil getup is one of the best character costumes at Walt Disney World.

Standout: it’s indoors and it’s fast by meet-and-greet standards. Compared to the Princess Fairytale Hall queue or a Mickey line at Town Square Theater, this one usually moves.

The catch — and it’s the thing most people don’t realize until they’re standing there: Pete’s Silly Sideshow is typically split into two separate greeting areas with two separate lines. You do not walk through and see all four. If you want both pairs, you queue twice. Budget accordingly, or pick your side and move on.

Skip it if: your group is all adults chasing headliners, or your kids are past the character phase. On a one-day Magic Kingdom trip with a tight rope-drop plan, this is a mid-afternoon filler, not a priority. And if the wait posts above ~25 minutes, come back later — it almost always drops.

• Know before you queue: it’s usually two lines, not one. The lineups are typically paired — one side for one duo, the other side for the other — so read the signage before you commit. Families routinely wait 20 minutes and then discover the character their kid actually wanted was in the other tent.
• The costumes are the whole point, so brief your kid. Donald as a mustachioed strongman and Daisy in fortune-teller robes throw some little ones who were expecting the standard looks. Thirty seconds of “Donald is dressed up as a circus strongman today” prevents a meltdown at the rope.
• Play to the bit and you’ll get a much better interaction. Ask Goofini about his most dangerous stunt, ask Madame Daisy to read your future, ask Donaldo to show off his muscles. These characters have strong circus personas and the performers lean in hard if you give them an opening — it’s a far better photo than a plain hug-and-wave.
• It’s indoors and air-conditioned. In July and August that’s a real strategic asset. Pair it with the Dumbo queue’s indoor play area and Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak right outside and you can build a genuine 45-minute heat break in Storybook Circus without leaving the land.
• There’s normally a PhotoPass photographer inside, but hand over your own phone too — many photographers will take a shot with it. Autograph books and pens out before you reach the front; fumbling for them eats your interaction time.
• Best time to go: late morning after the rope-drop rush has flooded Frontierland, or the last 60–90 minutes before close. Meet waits crater in the evening when families with young kids have gone back to the resort and everyone else is staking out fireworks spots on Main Street.
• Don’t burn a rope-drop slot here. Character meets are the cheapest thing in the park to do at 2 PM and the most expensive thing to do at 9:05 AM. Spend park-open on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, or TRON Lightcycle / Run, and circle back.
• A rope-drop reality check that applies to this whole corner: not every attraction and experience in Magic Kingdom is up and running the instant the park opens, and start times can vary. Confirm what’s actually operating before you sprint somewhere — building a rope-drop plan around something that isn’t open yet is the single most common way guests waste their best 30 minutes of the day.
• Lightning Lane strategy: character meets that appear in Lightning Lane Multi Pass are almost never the right use of a selection. Your Multi Pass slots are worth far more on Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Peter Pan’s Flight, or Space Mountain, where standby waits run genuinely long. Save the à la carte Single Pass money for TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
• Rider Switch angle: if half your party is riding The Barnstormer or Dumbo, the non-riders can knock out a side of the Sideshow and be back before the ride group clears the exit. It’s one of the tidiest parallel-tasking spots in the park.

Who can ride

Height requirement: none. Motion: none — this is a walk-up, stand-still greeting with no ride vehicle, no darkness, and no drops.

Scary factor: low, with one honest caveat. Some toddlers get shy around full-face costumed characters no matter how friendly they are, and the circus costumes here look different enough from the familiar versions that a hesitant kid may need a beat. Let them watch the family ahead of them from the queue rather than pushing them straight in.

Accessibility: fully wheelchair and ECV accessible, and the queue is indoors and level. Strollers park outside in the designated area — take valuables with you.

Best for: families with kids roughly 2–9, character collectors, and anyone who needs a genuinely low-effort, low-stress stop in the middle of a Magic Kingdom day.
