On Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights, Magic Kingdom adds character meet-and-greets you won’t find during a regular park day. Is it worth it?

Yes, if meeting characters is the reason you bought a party ticket. These costumed and rare meets are the main thing that sets the party apart from a normal evening at Magic Kingdom. For character fans and families with kids in costume, they’re often the highlight of the night.

Skip or limit them if you mostly want rides, candy and the parade. The popular meets can have some of the longest lines at the party. Party nights are short, so waiting in two or three long meet lines can take up most of your evening.

The standout: photos you can’t get any other time of year, with familiar characters in seasonal outfits and characters who don’t usually meet guests.

The catch: you can’t do everything. Pick one or two must-meet characters in advance and treat everything else as a bonus. Party tickets usually cost more than a standard day ticket, so plan your night around what your group cares about most.

• Party guests are usually let in before the official start time. That lets you ride a few attractions or line up near your top meet before the party-only characters appear. Check your ticket details for your exact entry time.
• Have the kids wear their costumes to the meet. Characters often respond to them, which makes for better photos and moments. Keep costumes comfortable and walkable, because Florida evenings can still be warm and humid.

Who can ride

No height requirement, and it’s not physically intense. This is a character meet-and-greet with no ride vehicle, so there’s no motion sickness risk.

Young kids: most costumed characters are friendly and playful. Some party characters may be villains or spookier characters, which can scare toddlers and preschoolers, especially at night. Watch the character from outside the line for a few minutes before committing to the wait.

Stamina is the real issue. Meets run late into the evening, and lines can mean long stretches of standing. For little kids, schedule meets early in the party, bring a stroller for the waits, and plan a snack break before the line rather than during it.
