Hollywood Brown Derby Patio Returns With Covered Seating

Live now: The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge availability

Disney reportedly reopened The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge patio on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios after more than two months of construction. As of Sunday, September 6, the biggest change is a large covered structure over the outdoor dining area, plus ceiling fans and new lighting.

According to reports, work on the outdoor lounge began June 29, when Disney closed the patio and moved the walk-up bar operation to the former Starring Rolls location. The project continued through the rest of the summer, with visible construction around the Brown Derby patio.

By July 17, crews had installed support columns around the seating area, pointing to a more permanent covering than umbrellas or temporary shade. By September 1, the awning, ceiling fans, and decorative lanterns were visible, though construction barriers were still up.

The patio is now reportedly back in use, with guests dining underneath the completed structure. The new red awning covers most of the outdoor tables and appears designed to match the existing Hollywood Brown Derby entrance canopy.

What we know

What’s not confirmed

Disney has not confirmed a formal reopening announcement in the provided coverage. Disney also has not confirmed whether seating capacity changed, whether the walk-up bar has fully moved back from the former Starring Rolls location, or whether any menu or operating-hour changes came with the patio reopening.

What it means for your trip

This is a useful win if you like a real sit-down break at Hollywood Studios but do not want to commit to a full indoor table-service meal. The covered patio should make the lounge less risky during hot, sunny, or stormy Florida afternoons, though outdoor comfort can still depend on weather and crowd levels.

The move is to treat Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge as a better midday reset option, especially if you are bouncing between Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, and nearby shows. If the lounge is busy, do not build your whole meal plan around it unless Disney posts firm availability or you can confirm walk-up access in My Disney Experience.
