9 Disney World Rides Get Holiday Overlays This Season

Live now: waits & closures

Nine Walt Disney World attractions across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are getting temporary holiday overlays for the 2026 holiday season, according to reports published Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The changes swap in seasonal soundtracks, lighting, and jokes rather than just adding decorations — and they are limited-time, with each ride returning to its standard version afterward.

As of Wednesday, October 7, reporting credits the slate to Disney, though no official announcement listing all nine attractions has been released. Magic Kingdom accounts for more than half the list, and most of its overlays are reportedly tied to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party rather than the regular park day.

At EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the headliner. Its usual six-song rotation is reportedly set aside beginning November 25, with riders instead hearing one of three randomly selected holiday tracks through January 6, 2027. That means regular-rotation songs including “September,” “Conga,” “Disco Inferno,” and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” temporarily step out of the lineup.

Jingle Cruise is the exception worth knowing: the holiday version of Jungle Cruise reportedly runs during normal park hours, no party ticket needed, keeping the ride intact while swapping most of the skipper jokes for holiday puns.

What we know

What’s not confirmed

Disney has not confirmed this slate in a single official statement, and the coverage available does not name EPCOT’s second attraction or detail what the Hollywood Studios overlay actually involves. Start and end dates were only reported for Cosmic Rewind — no start or end dates were given for the Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios overlays, and no word on whether every listed overlay runs the full season.

What it means for your trip

If someone in your group has been waiting all year to ride Space Mountain or Tomorrowland Speedway in their normal form, note that those versions are reportedly party-night-only changes — a regular park day should still be the standard experience. The reverse is also true: if the overlay is the draw, those two require a separate Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ticket.

Cosmic Rewind is the one to plan around. Riders who chase a specific song are rolling dice on three options instead of six after November 25, so if the regular soundtrack matters to you, go before then. It is also a Lightning Lane Single Pass ride, so budget for that separately from Multi Pass if you want to repeat-ride for a different track.

Jingle Cruise is the easy win — no party ticket, normal park hours, and a genuinely different ride for the same wait. SupaPark’s best-time forecaster can tell you when Jungle Cruise typically bottoms out so you can grab it without burning a Lightning Lane selection.
