Monstropolis Dining Revealed for Hollywood Studios in 2027

Published October 6, 2026 · Updated October 12, 2026

Disney announced on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 that the Monsters, Inc.-inspired land of Monstropolis will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year with two new restaurants. The named locations are Harryhausen’s, the table-service spot pulled straight from the film, and Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, an all-new concept with no on-screen counterpart.

As of Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Disney has described the land as opening in 2027 without naming a month, day, or season.

The announcement came with detail on how the menus are being built. Disney said the culinary and beverage teams — led by Chef Brian Piasecki, Director of Culinary and Concept Development, and Beverage Director Evan Rosenthal — were tasked with food that reads as monster-authentic while still being something a human wants to eat. Their internal shorthand for the result, per Disney, is “grossly fun”: familiar dishes with deliberately strange twists rather than invented monster cuisine.

Disney also confirmed a show element inside Harryhausen’s. Imagineers are building the restaurant’s head sushi chef as an Audio-Animatronic figure, working with eight tentacles in the center of the dining room. Disney said the restaurant will serve more than sushi and is being designed as a swanky night-out setting that still works for all ages.

What we know

What’s not confirmed

Disney has not announced an opening date for the land or either restaurant, has not released menus or prices, and has not said whether Harryhausen’s will require Advance Dining Reservations or how Archie’s will operate (quick service versus table service). No Lightning Lane details for anything in Monstropolis have been announced.

What our data shows

What it means for your trip

If you’re planning a 2027 Hollywood Studios trip, assume Harryhausen’s lands among the hardest tables on property the day booking opens — a themed table-service restaurant inside a brand-new land follows the Oga’s Cantina pattern closely. Advance Dining Reservations open 60 days before arrival at 6:00 AM Eastern in My Disney Experience; be logged in with your party already set.

Missing the 60-day window isn’t fatal. Reservations churn constantly, especially in the 24–48 hours before a seating. SupaPark’s dining Drop Watch catches the moment a table frees up from a cancellation and alerts you so you can book it yourself in My Disney Experience.

For trips before the land opens, nothing changes except the construction reality: Hollywood Studios is already the park that punishes a late arrival hardest, and active construction routing makes “I’ll just walk over there” a worse assumption than usual. Rope drop it or work it late — the park thins out at night while crowds drift toward fireworks elsewhere.
