When Rise Waits Jump, Do This Instead

Rise of the Resistance is worth protecting in your Disney’s Hollywood Studios plan, but it is not worth letting one posted wait hijack your whole day. If the line jumps, your move is simple: do not stand there refreshing and hoping. Pivot inside Galaxy’s Edge, keep watching the ride, and come back only when the data says the line or Lightning Lane opportunity is actually improving.

The mistake casual planners make is treating Rise like a now-or-never ride. It is a huge headliner, yes. It is also operationally fragile, demand-heavy, and bad at forgiving indecision. If you wait too long to make a call, you can lose the ride and the rest of your morning.

Use Single Rider if you have already done Smugglers Run, are short on time, or are trying to keep your Rise window open.
Use the regular queue if it is your first time, your kid wants to ride with you, or someone in your group really wants a chance at pilot.
Do not use Single Rider if splitting the group will create more stress than it saves.

That last point matters. A backup plan is supposed to lower the temperature, not turn your group into a logistics meeting in the middle of Batuu.

If Rise Is the Must-Do, Buy Predictability

Rise of the Resistance is a Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction at Hollywood Studios, separate from Lightning Lane Multi Pass. If it is the top priority of the day, Single Pass is the most predictable way to protect it.

That does not mean everyone should automatically buy it. The value depends on your budget, your group, and how much a long standby wait would damage the rest of your day. For a once-in-years trip, a Star Wars-focused family, or a group with limited patience for long lines, Single Pass can be the cleanest decision because it removes a lot of uncertainty.

Standby is more attractive when you are flexible, arriving early, or willing to pounce later if the wait drops.
