Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is the big, multi-stage headliner inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is part walkthrough, part preshow, part trackless dark ride, and part escape sequence, with First Order sets, Stormtroopers, Kylo Ren, and a finale that feels much bigger than a normal ride vehicle attraction.

Is it worth it?

Yes, Rise of the Resistance is worth prioritizing if anyone in your group likes Star Wars, cinematic rides, or Disney’s most ambitious attractions. The standout is the scale: the experience lasts about 18 minutes and keeps changing shape, so it feels more like being pulled into a Star Wars mission than simply boarding a ride.

The catch is demand and reliability. Rise is a Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction, so it is not included with Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and standby can be a painful gamble if the ride has downtime. If this is a must-do, either buy Single Pass or build your Hollywood Studios plan around riding it early or near the end of the night. Skip the paid upgrade only if your group is flexible, you are willing to watch the wait, and missing it would not wreck the day.

• Ask for the front row on the final ride vehicle. Rise uses two-row trackless vehicles, and the front row gives the cleanest view of the giant rooms, AT-ATs, Kylo Ren moments, and sudden reveals. The back row is still good, but smaller riders may have heads blocking some of the lower sightlines.
• On the transport ship, hang back near the doors you entered through. When the First Order sequence hits, those doors are the ones that open into the Star Destroyer hangar. Staying near them can put you at the front of the group for one of the attraction’s best reveals instead of staring over a crowd.
• Use Single Pass if Rise is non-negotiable. This is one of Hollywood Studios’ hardest attractions to recover from if standby goes sideways, especially because downtime can compress demand later in the day.
• If you skip Single Pass, aim for Early Theme Park Entry or late evening. Early access can work well if you are near the front of the pack, while the end of the night can be a good standby play if your group can stay late.
• Single rider is available, but use it carefully. It can help solo guests or flexible adults, but it may split your party and is not the best choice if this is a child’s first big Star Wars ride.
• Use Rider Switch if someone does not meet the height requirement or is not ready. That keeps one adult from missing the attraction entirely while another waits with the non-rider.
• Watch live status before committing. If Rise goes down, do not hover nearby burning park time. Pivot to another Hollywood Studios priority and come back when it reopens or when the wait softens.

Who can ride

Riders must be at least 102 cm tall. The thrill level is about 3/5: it is not a coaster, but it is loud, dark, intense, and story-driven, with First Order interrogation energy, villain encounters, sudden vehicle movement, and a brief drop-style moment.

Motion sickness risk is usually lower than on screen-heavy simulators, but sensitive guests should know the attraction mixes physical sets, screens, motion, and surprise movement. For younger kids, the bigger question is not speed; it is whether they will enjoy being captured by the First Order in a loud, high-stakes escape story. If they are tall enough but nervous, seat them beside the calmest adult and ask for the front row so they can see what is happening.
