Test Track

Overview

Test Track is a high-speed automotive thrill ride located in EPCOT’s World Discovery. Guests board a six-passenger sim-car to zip through a series of capability tests—including rough terrain, extreme weather, and evasive maneuvers—before bursting outside for a nearly 65 mph sprint around the pavilion’s exterior track.

Is it worth it?

This is EPCOT’s fastest attraction and a priority for thrill-seekers or anyone who loves the wind-in-your-face rush of an open-air speedway. The standout is that final outdoor loop, which hits 65 mph and remains one of the fastest experiences in Walt Disney World. The catch is its reliability; Test Track is notorious for breaking down and will close at the first sign of bad weather. Skip it if you have easily frightened young kids who meet the height requirement but might be overwhelmed by the dark, jerky, and loud indoor testing segments.

Insider tips

• Test Track features a dedicated Single Rider line. If your party is willing to be split up and ride in different cars to fill empty seats, this is one of the most effective shortcuts in EPCOT and usually takes a fraction of the standby wait.
• This is a highly popular Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction. Return times push late into the day and frequently run out, so make it one of your first Multi Pass selections when your booking window opens at 7:00 AM.
• Weather heavily impacts operations. Because of the outdoor track, the ride shuts down immediately for rain or lightning in the area. Try to ride in the morning before typical afternoon thunderstorms arrive.
• For standby riders wanting to stay together, head here right at rope drop or jump in line during the final hour the park is open when crowds thin out.
• Rider Switch is available for families with children who do not meet the height requirement.

Who can ride

Riders must be at least 102cm (40 inches) tall. While there are no inversions or massive drops, the ride is physically intense, featuring sudden stops, jerky movements, sharp turns in the dark, and an outdoor straightaway that hits 65 mph. The indoor sections are loud and can be startling for younger kids who just clear the height requirement. Motion sickness is usually less of a concern here than on screen-based simulators or spinning coasters, but the aggressive braking and rapid acceleration can bother highly sensitive riders.
