Animal Kingdom Lodge Lobby Work Remains Partly Unfinished
Published October 11, 2026 · Updated October 12, 2026
According to reports, part of the lobby at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge reopened on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Walt Disney World while other refurbishment work at the resort remains unfinished. As of Sunday, October 11, the reopened area includes the lobby section closest to the back savanna, but Disney has not confirmed a full completion date for the remaining lobby and Johari Treasures work.
The reopened section reportedly includes the refurbished stairs connecting the lobby level with access toward Sanaa and the savanna. That matters because guests can again use an indoor walking path between the two sides of the resort and the temporary store in the Palace Library, instead of going outside and re-entering.
Reports say two Animal Kingdom Lodge refurbishment projects were expected to be complete around October 10, but the broader lobby area and Johari Treasures work are still not done. Cast Members reportedly did not provide an estimated finish date.
Disney’s website is currently described as listing guest room refurbishment work at Jambo House from May 2026 through January 2027, but not a separate updated timeline for the ongoing lobby refurbishment.
What we know
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge lobby — a section closest to the back savanna reportedly reopened October 10, 2026.
- Refurbished stairs — reportedly reopened with the lobby section, restoring guest access between the lobby level, Sanaa, and the savanna area.
- Indoor resort path — reportedly open again between both sides of the resort and the temporary store in the Palace Library.
- Johari Treasures — still reportedly under refurbishment, with no confirmed completion date.
- Jambo House guest rooms — Disney’s site lists refurbishment from May 2026 through January 2027.
What’s not confirmed
Disney has not confirmed a new completion date for the remaining lobby refurbishment or Johari Treasures work.
Disney also has not confirmed, based on the reported details available, when the temporary store arrangement will end or when the resort’s lobby will be fully back to normal.
What it means for your trip
If you’re staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge soon, this is good news for movement around the resort, especially in rain or late at night. The reopened indoor path should make it easier to reach the temporary store in the Palace Library without stepping outside.
The trade-off is that the resort still may not feel fully polished, especially around the unfinished lobby and Johari Treasures areas. If the lobby atmosphere is a big part of why you’re paying Deluxe resort prices, set expectations now: some of the convenience is back, but the full resort experience is still in progress.
For arrival day, dining at Sanaa, or a resort-only visit, build in a little extra wayfinding time and do not assume every lobby route or shop setup is normal yet. If this resort is one option among several, the smarter call is to weigh Animal Kingdom Lodge’s dining and savanna views against the visible refurbishment still underway.
