Walt Disney World reportedly removed updated trash cans from the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Magic Kingdom. The older metal bins were reportedly back in the Frontierland attraction’s line, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is still scheduled to close for refurbishment on November 2, 2026.

As of Monday, October 5, Disney has not confirmed why the trash cans were removed from the queue. According to reports, the change came after Walt Disney World had been rolling out newer trash cans across parks, hotels, and Disney Springs with curved lids, hands-free foot pedals, and, on outdoor units, solar-powered internal compactors.

The newer bins have been a noticeable guest-experience change because they are harder to use as flat surfaces. That matters most in food-heavy areas, especially during EPCOT festivals, where guests often treat flat-topped trash cans like temporary tables.

Reports also noted guest confusion with the hands-free design. Some guests reportedly pushed trash into the handle area instead of stepping on the foot pedal to open the can fully, leading to overflow issues in some locations.

The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue change follows a separate issue at the attraction: the ride was closed for several hours in the days before the reported trash-can swap, with maintenance cast members draining water from the log flume to address an unknown technical problem.

What we know

What’s not confirmed

Disney has not confirmed why the updated trash cans were removed from the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue.

Disney has also not said whether those updated trash cans will return to the queue later.

Disney has not announced an exact reopening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure after its scheduled November 2, 2026 refurbishment closure.

What our data shows

What it means for your trip

This trash-can change should not affect how you plan your day unless you were counting on the queue setup for stroller trash, snacks, or quick cleanup while waiting. The bigger planning issue is the scheduled November 2 closure: if Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a must-ride, prioritize it before that date rather than assuming it will be available later in November.

If your trip falls during the refurbishment window, build your Magic Kingdom plan around other Frontierland and nearby options instead of leaving a hole for Tiana’s. Once it returns, watch live operating status closely; water rides can be more sensitive to downtime, and SupaPark can alert you when a ride goes down or comes back online.
