The days of using Disney Springs as a free parking hub to dodge theme park parking fees are officially over. Disney now strictly limits who can board resort-bound buses and boats leaving the Springs.

If you were planning to park for free, hop a bus to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and walk into Magic Kingdom, you need a new plan. Here is what is changing, who it affects, and the smart moves you should make instead.

The New Disney Springs Bus Rules

You can no longer board a bus or watercraft leaving Disney Springs for a resort unless you can prove you actually need to go there.

To get past the Cast Members at the loading zones, you must show your My Disney Experience app with one of the following:

A confirmed stay at a Disney Resort hotel
An Advance Dining Reservation at a resort restaurant
A booked resort experience (like a fireworks cruise or an appointment)

Without one of those, you are not getting on. Keep in mind, this only applies to outbound transportation. Anyone can still take a bus from their resort to Disney Springs without scanning a thing.

Why the Crackdown?

The “Disney Springs parking loophole” was an open secret. Because parking in the Orange and Lime garages is completely free, off-site guests and locals routinely parked at Disney Springs, caught a bus to a resort near the parks, and walked to the park gates.

You can leave Magic Kingdom, hop the Monorail to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, check out the lobby, and head back to your car later without any hassle.
