EPCOT Crowd Forecast for Jan 1, 2027: Expect a 10/10
Published November 2, 2026
EPCOT on January 1, 2027 is forecast to be as crowded as it gets. SupaPark’s crowd forecast has it at 10/10, and Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are also at 10/10. You can’t escape the crowd by picking another park. You beat it with timing. In SupaPark’s recent wait data, Test Track posts a median of 30 minutes at 8 AM vs 75 minutes at 4 PM. On a maxed-out day, your arrival time decides whether you spend it riding or standing in lines.

The verdict: a 10/10 day with nowhere easier to go
As of Nov 2, SupaPark’s forecast for EPCOT on Jan 1, 2027 is 10/10 for the whole day, at both the busiest and lightest points. The day doesn’t ease up at any point.
The key point is that every park is forecast at the same level. When one park is at a 10 and another is at a 6, the answer is simple: switch parks. On Jan 1 every Walt Disney World park is at 10, so switching parks won’t help.
That changes the plan. Stop looking for a quieter park and plan around the hours when lines are short. If you already have EPCOT on your calendar for New Year’s Day, you don’t need to move it. You need to be at the gate early.
Who should still go: guests who arrive before opening and plan their headliners around the hourly pattern below. Who should think twice: anyone planning a relaxed 11 AM arrival with no strategy. You’d walk in during the stretch of the day when lines run long.
Day by day: every park, Jan 1, 2027
The forecast covers one day, and all four parks are at the top level. Here’s SupaPark’s forecast, as of Nov 2:
- EPCOT: 10/10 on Jan 1
- Magic Kingdom: 10/10 on Jan 1
- Hollywood Studios: 10/10 on Jan 1
- Animal Kingdom: 10/10 on Jan 1
SupaPark’s ranking lists Animal Kingdom as the busiest and Magic Kingdom as the lightest. But all four average exactly 10.0, so that ranking is a tie-break, not a real difference. Don’t change your plans because of it. SupaPark’s calendar also shows no separately ticketed party nights on Jan 1. This is a regular operating day that’s simply packed.

Best and worst hours at EPCOT
These hourly numbers aren’t a measurement of Jan 1. They’re the recent daily pattern: the median posted wait across EPCOT’s five busiest rides, which SupaPark measured from Oct 4 to Nov 1. A 10/10 holiday will likely push every number higher. The shape of the day is still the useful part.
SupaPark’s wait data for EPCOT shows:
- 8 AM: 30 min (the lowest of the day)
- 9 AM: 45 min
- 11 AM: 53 min
- 2 PM: 55 min
- 4 PM: 60 min (the peak)
- 5 PM: 60 min
- 8 PM: 45 min
Waits jump 15 minutes between 8 and 9 AM. After that, they climb all afternoon and only start falling in the evening. The headliners follow the same pattern even more sharply:
- Test Track: 30 min at 8 AM vs 75 min at 4 PM
- Frozen Ever After: 20 min at 8 AM vs 65 min at 1 PM
Frozen Ever After triples from first thing in the morning to early afternoon. If you have kids who are set on Frozen, ride it in your first hour. If you wait until after lunch, you’re probably signing up for at least an hour in line, and likely more on Jan 1.
Here’s what I’d do:
- Be at the entrance well before opening. If you’re staying on-site, you get Early Theme Park Entry, which opens the park 30 minutes before official opening. Aim to arrive roughly 45–60 minutes before official open so you’re through bag check and the tapstiles when Early Entry starts. Arriving right at the start of Early Entry means you’re already behind people who were in place earlier.
- Ride Frozen Ever After and Test Track before 9 AM. Those are the two biggest gaps in the data, and you can close both in your first hour.
- Use the single rider lines. Test Track and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure both have one. Your group will probably be split up, but on a 10/10 afternoon it’s often the fastest way onto either ride. Remy’s sits in the France pavilion, so you can pair it with a World Showcase loop.
- Spend the 11 AM–5 PM peak on things without long lines. Do the World Showcase pavilions, shows and walk-through exhibits then. Joining a headliner standby line at 4 PM, the busiest hour in the recent data, is the worst way to spend your time.
- Come back to rides in the evening. By 8 PM the recent median falls to 45 minutes. Late in the day, posted waits can run higher than the actual wait. If a ride’s line looks short from outside, it’s often worth joining even when the posted number looks high.
Which park to pick instead
Honestly, none of them on crowd level alone. Every park is forecast at 10/10 for Jan 1. What differs is each park’s recent hourly pattern, which can help if you’re flexible:
- Magic Kingdom: its low point is 23 min at 8 AM, the lowest early-morning number of the four. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Jungle Cruise both drop to a 5-minute median at 8 AM. Better for families who are good at early mornings.
- Hollywood Studios: this park does better late. It falls to 24 min at 9 PM, and Slinky Dog Dash’s best hour is 9 PM (30 min vs 70 min at noon). Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is 15 min at 8 AM. Better for night owls.
- Animal Kingdom: waits peak at 40 min at 11 AM, then fall sharply to a 10-minute low at 6 PM. Kilimanjaro Safaris drops to 10 min at 3 PM, and Na’vi River Journey to 10 min at 7 PM. That’s only useful if the park is still open that late on Jan 1, so check hours closer to the date.
- EPCOT: the clearest morning advantage, then the longest midday stretch. Pick it if you can be there before opening.
Pick the park whose hourly pattern fits how your group actually likes to spend a day.
Let the data do the watching
On a 10/10 day, the short wait you need may last only a few minutes, and you won’t catch it by refreshing an app all afternoon. SupaPark’s live waits, best-time forecaster and crowd calendar are free at supapark.com. Wait-drop alerts tell you when a headliner falls toward a walk-on. Free accounts get them by email, and paid plans get instant push notifications. SupaPark only alerts you. It never books anything.
The one thing to remember: on Jan 1, 2027, your arrival time matters far more than which park you pick. Be through the gates before EPCOT opens and get Frozen Ever After and Test Track done in the first hour.
